Our 2nd Annual Conference & AGM will be held in Montreal, October 18 – 20. Details will be posted to this site as they become available.
AGE-WELL’s 1st Annual Conference & AGM was a great success. More than 200 Network Investigators, HQP (highly qualified personnel), partners, committee members and staff convened in Calgary October 21 – 23 to share research progress and ideas and to celebrate the first year of AGE-WELL operations. AGE-WELL’s conference is an important opportunity for AGE-WELL researchers to share their work with each other and with partners from industry, non-profit and government sectors.
The conference kicked off with a reception sponsored by AGE-WELL’s Board of Directors where AGE-WELL’s Chair, Michael Harcourt, welcomed everyone to Calgary and debuted an animated video about AGE-WELL’s mandate and transformative potential in the field of technology and aging.
The opening keynote presentation featured Mr. Jim Mann who shared his personal experience of using technology as a person living with Alzheimer’s disease. You can read more about Jim’s story here.
Other highlights of the conference included one-minute research pitches delivered by Network HQP featuring AGE-WELL’s 25 Core Research Projects as well as 11 pitches from recipients of the AGE-WELL Graduate Student and Postdoctoral Awards in Technology and Aging. The main conference day also included panels of partners, HQP and investigators speaking to issues of relevance to the AGE-WELL community.
AGE-WELL’s inaugural conference also included an orientation session and a Mitacs STEP workshop for trainees and junior researchers.
The conference was made possible through sponsorship from the following AGE-WELL partners: Canadian Association on Gerontology, Mircom, VHA Home Health, Philips and Revera.
