Shabnam Haghzare

I am a PhD student in Biomedical Engineering at University of Toronto, under the supervision of Dr. Alex Mihailidis and Dr. Jennifer Campos. My current project is broadly focused on the acceptability of driverless cars among older adults and is aimed to investigate the factors which may influence older adults' perceptions of such cars. My background is in Electrical Engineering where most of my projects were focused around Brain-Computer Interfaces using biological signals, specifically in applications of emotion recognition and prosthetics control. I am broadly interested in questions related to human compatibility of artificial intelligence and computational cognitive science.

Education:

  • PhD in Biomedical Engineering, University of Toronto, 2021 (expected)
  • MASc in Biomedical Engineering, University of Toronto, (Transferred to PhD)
  • BSc in Electrical Engineering, Sharif University of Technology, 2016
