Mike Harcourt

Mike Harcourt is currently the President of Harcourt Enterprises. 


Previously he served as Premier of British Columbia 1991-96 and Mayor of Vancouver 1980-1986.  After serving as premier, Harcourt became associated with the University of British Columbia.  He was involved with research relating to sustainable development and cities.  He is a passionate believer in the power of communities to improve the human condition and has played a significant role in promoting quality of life for those in Canada and abroad.  A near fatal accident in 2002 only strengthened his resolve to contribute to the transformation of cities,

particularly in relation to social inclusion.  He was Chair of the Prime Minister’s Advisory Committee for Cities and Communities and co-chaired the National Advisory Committee on the UN-HABITAT World Urban Forum in Vancouver in 2006. 


Mike Harcourt is currently Chair of University of British Columbia's Centre for Interactive Research on Sustainability.  In addition he is Chairman of Quality Urban Energy Systems for Tomorrow (QUEST). He is also the lead faculty in United Way's Public Policy Institute, member of Canada’s ECOFISCAL Commission.  Mike Harcourt received the  Order of Canada 2012.
