Bridgette Murphy is the new CEO of AGE-WELL.
The AGE-WELL Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Bridgette Murphy as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of AGE-WELL, effective immediately. Ms. Murphy, who has been Acting CEO for six months, has held senior leadership roles at AGE-WELL since its inception, previously serving as Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer.
“Bridgette has been a driving force at AGE-WELL from the start. Her vision and leadership have shaped the organization and been central to its success,” said Ian Struthers, Chair of the AGE-WELL Board of Directors.
“To the role of CEO, she brings extensive organizational knowledge, deep sector insight, exceptional leadership qualities, and a strong commitment to AGE-WELL’s mission. Bridgette is the ideal choice to ensure continuity and lead the next phase of our growth to strengthen Canada’s leadership in the sector and enhance the lives of older adults and caregivers.”
Ms. Murphy was pivotal in AGE-WELL’s early development, playing a key role in the original network funding application, successful funding renewal, and subsequent support for AGE-WELL’s research, capacity building and technology adoption pillars. During her ten years as Managing Director and COO, AGE-WELL mobilized a vast community across sectors to accelerate the delivery of technology-based solutions that support older Canadians and caregivers, while propelling Canada’s AgeTech sector.
“I’m honoured to lead AGE-WELL, a unique organization that champions inclusion and co-creation in its efforts to harness the potential of technology to support Canadians to age well,” said Ms. Murphy.
“Our leadership in the AgeTech space is widely recognized, and I look forward to continuing to work with the outstanding network management team, our dedicated Board, and the incredible researchers, partners, trainees, older adults and caregivers across the network to advance AGE-WELL’s strategic priorities and, together, shape the future of aging in Canada.”
Ms. Murphy succeeds Dr. Alex Mihailidis as CEO. Dr. Mihailidis, who served as Scientific Director and CEO for ten years, transitioned to the role of Vice-Chair, Research, of the AGE-WELL Board of Directors in March 2025. He also spearheads the network’s Research Strategy Council convened to ensure alignment between AGE-WELL’s mission and research priorities and the broader national and international agendas on aging.
Since 2015, AGE-WELL has served as a catalyst for technological innovation that supports healthy aging while driving Canada’s growing AgeTech sector. More than 450 industry, community, government and non-profit partners have joined AGE-WELL and the number continues to grow. AGE-WELL has supported over 1,400 trainees to be innovators of tomorrow.
