AGE-WELL Scientific Director named Vice-Chair of CIHR’s Institute Advisory Board on Health Innovation
Dr. Alex Mihailidis, AGE-WELL Scientific Director, has been appointed as Vice-Chair of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research’s (CIHR) Institute Advisory Board (IAB) on Health Innovation.
The IAB on Health Innovation provides advice on accelerating the discovery, development, evaluation and integration of health innovations into practice so that patients can receive the right interventions at the right time.
“I am honoured to be appointed to the IAB on Health Innovation, which does such important work. I look forward to contributing this IAB’s continued success and to helping it realize its vision,” says Dr. Mihailidis.
An internationally known researcher and expert in technology and aging, Dr. Mihailidis holds the Barbara G. Stymiest Chair in Rehabilitation Technology Research at Toronto Rehab. He is a professor in the Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy, and the Institute of Biomaterials and Biomedical Engineering, at the University of Toronto.

Le directeur scientifique d’AGE-WELL nommé vice-président du Conseil consultatif de l’institut sur l’innovation en santé des IRSC
Alex Mihailidis, directeur scientifique d’AGE-WELL, a été nommé vice-président du Conseil consultatif de l’institut (CCI) sur l’innovation en santé des Instituts de recherche en santé du Canada (IRSC).
Le CCI sur l’innovation en santé fournit des avis sur l’accélération de la découverte, du développement, de l’évaluation et de l’intégration des innovations en santé dans la pratique afin que les patients puissent bénéficier des interventions adéquates en temps opportun.
« Je suis honoré d’être nommé au CCI sur l’innovation en santé, qui fait un travail extrêmement important. Je suis impatient de contribuer au succès continu du CCI et de l’aider à concrétiser sa vision », a déclaré M. Mihailidis.
Chercheur mondialement reconnu et expert en matière de technologie et de vieillissement, M. Mihailidis est titulaire de la chaire de recherche Barbara G. Stymiest en technologie de la réadaptation de l’Institut de réadaptation de Toronto. Il est professeur agrégé au département d’ergologie et d’ergothérapie ainsi qu’à l’Institut des biomatériaux et du génie biomédical de l’Université de Toronto.
