The GRC is the Secretariat of the International Society for Gerontechnology North American chapter

The Gerontology Research Centre (GRC) was established in 1982 with the help of grants from Imperial Oil, the Real Estate Foundation of BC, Shoppers Drug Mart, and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. The Centre publishes the Fact Book on Aging in British Columbia that is now in its 5th Edition and two newsletters: GRC News which reports on the Centre’s current research and education activities and Seniors’ Housing Update which highlights new developments in seniors’ housing. Currently, as part of its ‘outreach activities,’ the Centre serves as the Secretariat of the International Network for Prevention of Elder Abuse (INPEA) and is the Secretariat of the International Society for Gerontechnology North American chapter with Dr. Andrew Sixsmith as the President.
