Anne Martin-Matthews
Anne Martin-Matthews is a Professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of British Columbia (UBC) and the Scientific Director of the National Institute of Aging of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research. Her research focuses on aging and life course, health and society, health and social care services especially home and community care, and intersections of formal and informal care, especially involving the nexus of the public and private spheres. Since coming to UBC in 1998, she has held positions as Associate Dean Research, Associate Dean Strategic Initiatives, and acting Dean in the Faculty of Arts. Dr. Martin-Matthews is also a Faculty Associate at the Peter Wall Institute for Advanced Studies, Chair for the Health & Society Minor Program, as well as the President for the Research Committee on Aging, International Sociological Association. She recently finished 2 terms as the Scientific Director of the CIHR Institute of Aging where she led the development of the Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging (CLSA), a 20 year study of 50, 000 Canadians aged 45-85.
