Geoff Fernie is the Institute Director of TRI-UHN. He has helped launch four successful start-up companies, and has 22 awarded patents and 13 additional filings related to assistive technologies. He has transferred nine products to the marketplace. He led the development of TRI-UHN’s $36M CFI-funded iDAPT Centre (intelligent Design for Adaptation, Participation and Technology), which is a network of 13 state-of-the-art research labs. He has maintained a focus on the reduction of falls through the development of innovative mobility products, non-slip winter footwear and improvements to accessibility and building codes.
