DESCRIPTION:Speakers:  \n\nDanielle Sinden\, Director\, Centre of Excellence & Research Operations\, Perley Health\nDr. Mirou Jaana\, Full Professor & Research Fellow\, University of Ottawa\nDanielle Cruise\, Research Assistant\, Perley Health & PhD Student\, University of Ottawa\n\n  \nDescription: \nAssistive technologies (AT) may support the care provided in long-term care (LTC) homes and improve residents’ quality of life and well-being. Despite their potential\, AT implementation in LTC homes is limited and there is insufficient evidence on the adoption and optimal implementation and assimilation of these technologies in this environment. \nIn this webinar\, Perley Health\, along with their uOttawa partners\, will introduce AT and their potential for supporting care in LTC homes\, and discuss the facilitators and barriers associated with their implementation. Examples of diverse AT projects at Perley Health (one of Ontario’s largest LTC homes) will be discussed\, presenting an overview of various AT implementation projects and the lessons learned from these projects. \nBy attending this webinar\, participants will learn to: \n\nIdentify examples of AT that may benefit residents in LTC homes.\nDescribe the factors to consider when selecting appropriate AT for LTC settings.\nUnderstand facilitators/barriers and risks that may be encountered when implementing AT in LTC homes.\nDevelop strategies to effectively engage staff\, residents\, caregivers and volunteers in AT implementation to support technological innovation sustainability and spread.\n\n  \nSpeaker Bios: \nDanielle Sinden is the Director of the Centre of Excellence and Research Operations at Perley Health in Ottawa. Danielle has a Master of Arts in Gerontology\, with a concentration in health and aging. She has over 15 years’ experience in health research and clinical operations focused on older adults. Danielle’s current role at Perley Health involves leading the Centre of Excellence in Frailty-Informed Care™\, which conducts innovative\, applied research and evaluation activities aimed at improving care and quality of life for older adults living with frailty and mobilizes this knowledge throughout the sector. \nDanielle Cruise is a PhD student in Management\, specializing in Health Systems at the Telfer School of Management\, University of Ottawa\, under the supervision of Dr. Mirou Jaana. Her research focuses on the adoption and implementation of health information technologies in long-term care homes. Danielle is also a Research Assistant at Perley Health\, Ottawa’s largest long-term care home. She has presented her research at numerous conferences\, including the Canadian Association on Gerontology\, the Canadian Association for Health Services and Policy Research\, and e-Health\, among others. She was also an attendee of the CIHR Summer Program in Aging\, and a finalist in the SSHRC Storytellers Competition where she communicated the impacts and relevance of her research in a 300-word infographic. \nDr. Mirou Jaana is a Full Professor and Research Fellow at the Telfer School of Management\, University of Ottawa. She holds a PhD in Health Management and Policy and a post-doctoral fellowship in Information Technology in Health Care. She was appointed as PhD program director (2018-2020) and Master of Health Administration (MHA) program director (2021-2024). Her research cover four streams at the intersection of the Health Care Management and Medical Informatics: 1) Evaluation of telehealth application adoption and impact; 2) Information technology (IT) innovation and assessment in health care organizations; 3) Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) implementation; and 4) Digital health and older adults. She published articles in top peer-reviewed journals\, presented at international conferences\, and was a member of grant selection committees\, editorial boards\, and scientific review committees. \n  \n Register Here!\n
