This first webinar will focus on gender analysis. \nJoin our webinar for an exploration of sex and gender-based analysis in health research. We’ll delve into the core concepts of sex and gender\, focusing on their relevance to health research. Learn practical strategies/tools for integrating sex and gender considerations into your projects. Our session begins with informative presentations\, laying the groundwork for sex and gender in health research. We’ll showcase their applications in areas like concussion and traumatic brain injury. Gain fresh perspectives from emerging researchers actively engaged in this work. Then\, participate in a thought-provoking group discussion. This engaging session aims to inform and inspire. \n  \nLearning Outcomes: \n  \n\nTo understand concepts of sex and gender in health research.\nTo identify available resources that can facilitate sex and gender considerations in health research.\nTo become familiar with examples of the application of sex and gender-based analyses in health research\n\n  \nBios: \nDr. Tatyana Mollayeva\, PhD\, MD is a Scientist at the KITE Research Institute University Health Network and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Epidemiology at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health with cross appointments at the Rehabilitation Sciences Institute and the Occupational Science & Therapy of the Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto. \nDr. Mollayeva obtained her medical degree at the Sechenov University and completed a residency in Epidemiology at the Turkmen State Medical University\, after which she practiced in the field of infectious disease prevention. She completed her PhD at the Rehabilitation Sciences Institute at the University of Toronto. Most recently\, Dr. Mollayeva completed the Atlantic Fellowship for Equity in Brain Health at the Global Brain Health Institute. Her research focuses on the development of prevention of brain injury and disorders at the person and population levels. \nDr. Mollayeva’s work has been recognized with multiple awards from national and international organizations. She currently holds the Canada Research Chair in Neurological Disorders and Brain Health. \n  \nDr. Angela Colantonio is the Director of the Rehabilitation Sciences Institute at the University of Toronto and is a Professor in the Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto. She holds a Canada Research Chair (Tier 1) on Traumatic Brain Injury in Underserved Populations and is a Senior Research Scientist at the KITE Research Institute\, Toronto Rehabilitation Institute-University Health Network\, where she held the Saunderson Family Chair in Acquired Brain Injury Research. Dr. Colantonio leads an internationally recognized research program on acquired brain injury with diverse foci on women\, vulnerable populations\, violence\, work-related traumatic brain injury and sex and gender considerations. She is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences\, American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine and the American College of Epidemiology. \n  \nDr. Sara Hanafy recently completed her doctoral degree at the University of Toronto\, Rehabilitation Sciences Institute\, in the area of traumatic brain injury. She received her Master of Science degree in Biomedical and Anatomical Sciences. Dr. Hanafy has a special interest in the role of biological sex and socio-cultural gender in traumatic brain injury recovery including clinical and non-clinical outcomes\, and brain injury comorbidity \n  \nDr. Chen Xiong is a Consultant at Lifescience Dynamics\, a global strategic decision support consultancy\, where he engages with clients from top pharmaceutical companies across the world to gather competitive intelligence\, develop market access strategies and perform market research in a wide range of therapeutic areas. As part of his role\, Chen manages analysts across multiple project teams across the US and EU to conduct primary and secondary research\, which are then synthesized to provide insightful and actionable insights for clients. Throughout his time at Lifescience Dynamics\, Chen has developed an in-depth understanding of pharmaceutical strategy\, clinical development and regulatory process with particular expertise in oncology\, infectious disease and immunology. Prior to joining Lifescience Dynamics\, Chen completed his PhD degree under the supervision of Dr. Angela Colantonio in 2020. With a strong interest in technology and caregiving\, Chen led a collaborative project between the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and Health Canada to develop a sex- and gender-based technology evaluation framework for caregiving technologies. Throughout his graduate training\, Chen has received several scholarships including the Ontario Graduate Scholarship\, Peterborough K.M. Hunter Charitable Foundation Graduate Award and CIHR Doctoral Research Award.
