Mitacs Accelerate Program
AGE-WELL is working with another centre of excellence, Mitacs, to offer a unique training program to graduate students and postdoctoral fellows that connects companies and other organizations with advanced expertise at universities and research centres.
AGE-WELL students and postdocs can apply for industry placements made available through AGE-WELL’s membership in the Mitacs Accelerate program.
Program Details
A graduate student or post-doctoral fellow, working under the guidance of a professor, links the partner organization with the university. Each 4-month internship is valued at $15,000: partner organizations contribute $7,500, which is matched by the Accelerate program. A total of $15,000 funding is sent to the supervising professor for each internship.
The graduate student or postdoctoral fellow is paid a minimum stipend of $10,000 with the remaining funds supporting other costs associated with the research. All disciplines are eligible to participate in the program and applications can be made at any time.
